Why learn Hebrew?

Hebrew is the official language of Israel and one of the oldest living languages in the world, revived as a daily spoken language in the 20th century. It is written from right to left using its own 22-letter alphabet.

In the US Foreign Service Institute ranking, Hebrew is a Category III language - about 1100 class hours to professional working proficiency for English speakers. Hebrew belongs to the Afro-Asiatic (Semitic) family - if you enjoy it, a natural next step is Arabic or Amharic.
